Clay County Fire Territory Command Center Open House
Clay Fire Territory in South Bend held an open
house on September 5, 2007 of their brand new Command Training Center
(CTC). Based upon the Phoenix FD (CTC) training methodology which is
recognized as a model for fire services across the nation. The CTC is
capable of providing regional FEMA training programs for response teams,
law enforcement and WMD response personnel.
The CTC is divided into five sections to replicate a real word incident.
Communications, Classroom, Sectors, Command Vehicle and a Control room
all play an integral part in developing a scenario that is challenging,
realistic and improves competency.
Questions about the CTC should be directed to Chief Timm Schabbel at
574-272-2144. CTC website for scheduling and class information can be
found at www.clayfd.com.
Director Joe Wainscott of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security
Division of Training was on hand for the grand opening and was impressed
with the realism of the simulation technology. Director Wainscott sees
the Clay CTC as a very valuable tool in improving the capability of the
first responders that protect Hoosiers.
